Support Standards Body
Funding disclosure current through July 23, 2026
Standards Body is an independent research and institutional-design project. Every publication in its Library is free, will remain free, and carries an explicit status, version, and correction record. The project is presently the work of one person, funded by that person.
Financial support pays for continued research and publication: the next foundation-derived essays, maintenance of time-sensitive records such as the frontier-framework crosswalk, the terminology and taxonomy work, and the infrastructure that keeps every record versioned, checksummed, and correctable. Support never buys influence. The principles below govern every contribution before it is accepted.

Recurring monthly support is the most useful form, because it makes research time plannable. One-time contributions are equally welcome.

Standards Body welcomes conversations with grantmakers and philanthropic funders whose interests align with independent frontier AI evaluation research. Write to [email protected] with the subject “Funding.” Every grant is subject to the same principles below and is publicly disclosed.
Funding principles
These principles apply to every contribution, of any size, from any source.
- No influence over conclusions. No funder, at any level, directs, approves, previews, or vetoes research questions, methods, findings, publications, corrections, or status decisions. Support conditioned on outcomes is declined.
- Full disclosure. All funding sources are disclosed on this page. Grants and institutional funding are disclosed by name and amount. Individual supporters are disclosed in aggregate by default and by name only with their consent.
- Independence from evaluated parties. Standards Body does not currently accept funding from frontier AI developers or from organizations whose documents it analyzes in published work. If that policy ever changes, the change, its safeguards, and every such source will be disclosed here before any funds are accepted.
- Nothing is for sale. Support does not purchase placement, endorsement, badges, certification, review outcomes, early access, or any claim of association with the project's research. Publications never carry sponsor branding.
- Concentration awareness. At this early stage a single grant may represent most of the project's funding. Concentration is disclosed rather than hidden, and reducing dependence on any single source is a stated goal as funding grows.
- Recorded like everything else. Funding acceptance decisions are recorded in the project's decision system, and this disclosure is updated whenever funding status materially changes, and at least quarterly.
Current funding disclosure
As of July 23, 2026: Standards Body is self-funded by its founder, Syed Hussain. It has received no external funding of any kind. It has no sponsors, donors, grants, commercial clients, or financial relationships with AI developers.
When the first external contribution or grant is received, this disclosure will be updated before or alongside its acceptance. Quarterly disclosure updates begin October 1, 2026 and continue whether or not anything has changed, so the absence of an update is never ambiguous.
Questions about funding, or concerns that any support arrangement conflicts with these principles, can be sent to [email protected] and will be treated as correction reports.
Other ways to help
Money is not the only support that matters. Reviewing a publication through the Engage protocol, reporting an error, proposing a contribution through the Contribute page, or citing the work where it is useful all advance the project at least as much as a contribution does.
